Job search tracker · last updated 10 October 2026

Who this applies to

Job search tracker is a personal tool built and used by Yusuf Ismail to manage his own job search. It is not offered to anyone else, and the only Google account it is authorised to access is his own.

What Google data it accesses

The app requests one Google permission: read-only access to Gmail (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly). It cannot send, draft, label, move or delete email, and it refuses to run if it is ever granted a wider permission.

It reads two kinds of email in the owner's mailbox:

Emails about unrelated topics are skipped and not stored.

Where the data is kept

Everything the app stores (vacancy details, the application tracker and short extracts of recruitment emails) is kept in a local database on the owner's own computer. It is not uploaded to any server run by the app. The Google sign-in token is stored in the computer's macOS Keychain.

Sharing with third parties

To score how well a vacancy matches the owner's CV, the app sends the public job advert, together with that vacancy's title, employer, salary and location (which may come from a job-alert email), to Anthropic's Claude API. The content of the owner's personal or recruitment emails is never sent to Anthropic or anyone else. Google user data is not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to train AI models.

Limited Use

Job search tracker's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Removing access and data

Access can be withdrawn at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Deleting the local database removes all stored data.
